Delicate Arch
The historic Delicate Arch trailhead is the most popular hike in Moab and for good reason. Along the way you can view the historic Wolfe Ranch Cabin and ancient Petroglyphs. Be sure to bring water and prepare appropriately for this somewhat arduous and be careful as this hike can be dangerous, especially in inclement weather.
At the end of the hike (3 miles/ 4.8 km round trip) you will be rewarded with a stunning view of the largest free-standing arch in the park. There is also a lower viewpoint where you can view the arch from a distance with just a 100-yard walk.
Arguably the best time to photograph the arch is sunset, be sure to plan enough time to make it to the top (about an hour) so you can pick your spot in advance of the setting sun as it is a very popular time for photographers!

Delicate Arch Trail
My son is now a certified Jr. Ranger so is strict with staying on designated trails or bare rock to preserve the natural soil. When they do find bare rock out-croppings to climb they take full advantage.

Frame Arch
Just before you reach the top of the hike there is a canyon wall to your right and if you climb to the top you’ll have a supreme view of Delicate Arch through Frame Arch. A great place for adventurous kids to explore but I can tell you from experience it will stress their mom out!

Delicate Arch & Landing Raven
Keen eyes may spot the nest on top where a pair of Ravens that have made the Delicate Arch their home. These ravens are actually quite large and one landing on top of the arch provided a lucky sense of scale. On your visit keep an eye out for the wild-life that makes this place their home.

An Unforgettable Family Hike
Once you pass the switchbacks and stretch of sandy trail you’ll reach the bare rock ascent, if you are hiking up to catch sunset don’t forget to turn around and catch these long evening shadows.
